Working directly with an entrepreneur with big ideas for Real Estate, I designed Robin: a mobile app for home listings. Robin shows users curated home listings depending on their specific preferences. Through surveys and interviews, I found that users were overwhelmed by the apps and listings available; they had trouble finding things to match their unique criteria. The did not want to just see so many listings, and were frustrated when contacted by agents too early.
Robin learns what users are looking for and improves the listings depending on user interaction over time. Users can treat the search results like an inbox. Save what they love to custom collections, and ‘delete’ what they don't like. Listings can be searched or sorted by price, commute time, or open house date. Once logged in, users can save multiple searches; so they don't have to commit to one neighborhood or price. Users can compare homes and features easily in a landscape-view comparison chart; and schedule their open house visits with a calendar and map.
After an initial survey, we established user personas, use-flows and wireframes for 3 initial app concepts.
We continued to gather data through typeform surveys, card sorts and interviews to establish the most important home-features and app-features of our users. I used this data and continued usability tests to complete the on-boarding, navigation, wireframes, and a prototype for the final Robin app concept.
